Hana and Daniel Fullmer join us from Tierra Vida Farm in Durango, Colorado. This is a “nuts and bolts” kind of episode about how they built their soil from not so great beginnings (like maybe most of us?) using first mechanical means and now cover crops (with goats!), managing space on their 2+ acres of production with silage tarps and flame weeders, the water situation in CO and how they’ve approached it, relying heavily on transplant production, and—of course—moving compost around on the farm. Also, a word on how to use sub-soiling for the benefit of soil biology.
