Our First No-Till Event, Ever// Frith Farm at Rough Draft Farmstead
Hey y’all,
Join us on October 29th for a no-till intensive with Daniel Mays of Frith Farm, followed by a farm tour and beers (or whatever you might drink, bring your own) at Rough Draft Farmstead in the afternoon.
This thing is going to be loaded with value for every level of grower.
For a little more detail on what to expect, the day will start out at Spark Community Cafe with coffee and pastry-things. Daniel will be presenting on the human-scale, no-till practices of Frith Farm. He will cover their unique no-till practices and systems, including crop planning, cover cropping, in-situ mulching, compost and mulch applications, tarping, water management, increasing biodiversity, and maintaining a weed-free farm. I’m going to repeat that—a weed-free farm.
Daniel’s portion of the day will offer a deep dig into the ecological, economic, and human benefits of farming without tractors, tillage, or spraying, and there will be plenty of time to allow for questions and conversation.
We will have lunch (included in ticket price) and discussion at Spark, then load up and head over to our farm for a farm tour around one. There will be at least a few fellow no-till growers there to speak with including myself and Hannah, Jackson and Jordan of Stonehouse, Daniel Mays of Frith, among others, so we hope to have a rich and engaging “farmer-to-farmer” kind of afternoon. We’ll wind down by around five. You ain’t got to go home, but you can’t stay here.
This will be a rain or shine event. We have plenty of covered space at the farm, but we are not doing the whole event there because it can be quite cool—or quite hot—here in late October. Be prepared to… be prepared. Also, we live deep in Bourbon and Horse Country, so if you are coming from out of town there is plenty to do in the area—happy to make suggestions in that regard (we live fifteen minutes from Wild Turkey and Four Roses, and half an hour from Woodford Reserve and maybe a million more). The trees will be turning and it will be ridiculously pretty. If you need more reason…
Get your tickets here, and also REMEMBER THAT PATREON MEMBERS GET DISCOUNTS AT CERTAIN LEVELS. It’s never too late to become a supporter of No-Till Growers and the upcoming season two of the No-Till Market Garden Podcast. Let us know if you have any questions. Email us at notillgrowers@gmail.com or leave a comment, whatever works for you! Hope to see you there, er, here!
